do you have a studio?

No. I believe natural light is the most important element in creating incredible portraits, so I use the beauty of nature for family sessions! I don’t set up studio lighting or use flashes that make photos look flat. Instead, we’ll chase the sunlight for a beautiful glow that flatters skin & adds depth & magic to your portraits.

Most newborn sessions take place in your home, & all we need is a window! I’ve photographed newborn sessions in all kinds of places— living rooms, nurseries, master bedrooms, kids bedrooms, & even a dining room! I find that families feel WAY more comfortable shooting in their own homes as opposed to another location anyway. It’s temperature controlled during the winter & way less stressful than trying to get kids out the door + keeping them photo ready. That said, if you’re not having a winter baby I am happy to do an outdoor session & we can talk about that when you book your session!

If we don’t know when baby will arrive, how to does booking work?

When you book, I pencil you in on the calendar based on your due date but we don't actually finalize the specific day & time for you shoot until after your little one arrives. The ideal time for a newborn session is 7-14 days after delivery so I'll send you some time slots to choose from that fall in that age range. That said, I'm flexible & can usually work around your schedule if needed!

How far in advance do I need to book for newborn sessions?

Plan on booking about 1-2 months in advance. I take a limited number of due dates per month to make sure I’ll have enough availability to offer you once your little one arrives. If you’re hoping to book last minute please feel free to reach out & I’d be happy to let you know if I have any availability left.

what safety measures do you follow when it comes to covid 19?

I totally understand the hesitation when it comes to COVID 19, especially when newborns are involved. I remain masked at all sessions & wash my hands as soon as I arrive. My bookings are extremely limited at this time, so I am not scheduling any back-to-back sessions that may put families at risk. My whole family is also vaccinated & we take it very seriously as I, too, have a newborn at home!

I’m booking a newborn session— How clean does my house need to be?!

Your body has just been through trauma, you’re running on little sleep, & you’re adjusting to having a new addition— the last thing I want you to worry about is cleaning & organizing your home. This is supposed to be stress-free, remember!? But that doesn't mean I'll leave all the clutter in the background of your photos. If there is something distracting in the frame, I’ll just run over and move it out of view. I also am very strategic about angles, you’d be surprised with the locations I can get away with photographing & still get amazing shots! It’s also important to note that I send a list of tips after you book on how to prepare for your session so you have all the info before your baby arrives.

DO you provide props for my newborn session?

I don’t bring baskets, buckets, or other props. As you’ll read in the newborn style guide after you book, when it comes to newborn photography less is more. I have a firm belief that simple is always better & too much “stuff” distracts from your newborn (which is what you ultimately care about). Clean, simple backgrounds are timeless so I tend to keep things minimalist. I do have a small selection of neutral colored blankets (cream, white, tan, etc.) to help us achieve that fresh, bright look.

 What should I wear?

After you book you'll have access to my exclusive newborn style guide that helps you choose & coordinate colors to make your portraits look the best! It’s full of tips & suggestions on styling your session.

Do you offer maternity sessions?

Yes! In fact, you’ll get a discount on your newborn session if you book a maternity session with me! I suggest planning your maternity session for about 32-34 weeks of pregnancy.
